Todd is an enormous asset to our team. He was a competitive swimmer for 22 years with successes including: 

• Olympic Trials qualified and finished top 16 3 times 1984, 1988, 1992 
• USA Nationals qualified nine years, best finish 4th place 400 IM 
• Full Scholarship University of Arizona 1984 - 1988 
• NCAA All American 1987 • USA Junior National Team 1984 - 1985 
• Ranked top 15 in the USA and top 25 in the world 1984 - 1988 and 1991 - 1992 

Todd has coached all swimming levels from learn to swim through high school and on to national levels. Some of Todd's most cherished coaching accomplishments include sending athletes to Olympic trials and Division 1 colleges, students breaking national group records and being recognized on the 2017/2018 National Junior Team Coaches List. But he'll be the first to say, his biggest accomplishment has been teaching children to love and be safe in the water. With Todd's expertise in coaching and long history of success in the swimming world, we've seen our HVST family go from strength to strength.

Coach Ben has been involved in competitive swimming for over 30 years. His swimming career reached its pinnacle at Minnesota State University where he broke three individual team records, earned two NCAA medals, and competed at the 2008 Olympic Trials.

After ending his athletic career, he went on to coach with SOCAL Aquatics for fifteen years, the last five serving as Head Age Group Coach. His swimmers have combined to earn more than 100 Southern California Swimming championship medals and over 40 team records. Concurrently, he has also spent the past fourteen summers coaching Harbor View Swim Team in Newport Beach.

Coach Ben graduated from Minnesota State University in 2009 with a BSc in Exercise Physiology. In 2010, he developed a love for teaching private lessons and built a full-time business around it. From analyzing technique with gold medalists to blowing bubbles with three-year olds, Coach Ben loves using the latest technology to teach everyone to move fluidly through the water.

Coach Pristine has been involved in competitive swimming for 25 years, first for SOCAL Aquatics, then later as team captain for Beckman high school. She began her coaching career in 2008 and for the past fifteen years has guided SOCAL Aquatics’ top 10&U athletes to incredible success. Coach Pristine’s swimmers have combined to achieve more than 50 Southern California Swimming Championship medals and over 20 current team records. She also coached HS swimming at both Beckman and Foothill, where her Foothill Frosh/Soph Girls won League in 2014 and 2015. 

Academically, Coach Pristine graduated with a BA in Psychology from Cal State Fullerton. Realizing how much she loved working with children while coaching, she went on to teach kindergarten for five years at Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac private school in Tustin. When off the deck, she loves to ski with her husband, cook, and spend time caring for her pets.

Maye is a master of teaching in and out of the water. Coach Maye obtains a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development with a minor in Psychology. Maye also has experience working with children with disabilities from working within an elementary school in a moderate to severe special education classroom (2018-2022).

Coach Maye was taught how to swim by Coach Todd and eventually began swimming at six years old. She swam competitively for USA swimming until she was 18 years old and eventually transitioned into being a USA Swimming Coach in 2017.

Coach Maye joined Harbor View Swim Team in 2013 as a junior coach and a swimmer. Since then she has continued coaching for HVST since 2017. Some of Coach Mayes accomplishments include:

• 3x Division 2 CIF Champion
• 2016 California High School State Champion
• 4 x CIF Qualifier and Finalist
• High School Swim Team Captain
• HVST Record Holder

Maye loves all things cosmetics and beauty, her family, her two dogs Ozzie & Lola, shopping and weekend getaways with her husband!

Coach Maye is not able to take any lessons at the moment, she is booked until August 2026
